To kick off the new year, we transitioned to discussions on college life. On January 7, as most Foresight Fellows were completing their college applications, we took the opportunity to discuss the various elements of college life, both on and off campus. Topics included fields of study, engaging professors, networking, student life, and ways of remaining in touch with friends and family. The Foresight Project is lucky to have a such a mature, thoughtful group of Fellows!
On December 11, The Foresight Project was fortunate to have Jonathan Hernandez, Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual, return for another excellent session on financial literacy. Jonathan discussed the importance of taking control of our financial wellbeing by making informed decisions around saving and investing. He helped demystify the various investment options available to those looking to invest responsibly. Financial literacy is always one of our most engaging sessions, and the Foresight Fellows asked lots of great questions!
On November 13, the Foresight Fellows and Mentors held a session focused on college applications and financial aid. It was a timely discussion as the Fellows finished up their applications and considered the real costs involved attending college. We covered the fundamentals of the various kinds of financial aid and the realities of managing college debt after graduating.
